SS isn't an entitlement, as you paid into it. You have to have worked for a long enough period, to draw from it, and what you receive is based upon what you paid in. What ruined SS was Johnson's Great Society programs, which ended the Bretton Woods Agreement, and threw the US into a huge trade imbalance. You have to have people employed, to pay into a retirement plan. At that. SS was only meant as a supplementary income for retirees, not a full retirement. That was back when pensions still existed, and you could draw from both.
