Years ago, a local pharmacist and friend of the family, used to take great joy in embarrassing teens between 17 and 19, who wished to purchase a package of “rubbers.” He would make a huge show of it, and loudly announce what they were buying, along with the cost for a pack. They always kept them at the rear counter, where you filled your prescriptions.
