  1. My old elementary school had a CD shelter in the basement. The building was built in the 1930s under FDR, and it never received that "extra shielding." I remember the days of "duck, and take cover," where we students would drop to the floor, and hide under our desks. A friend of mine used to say that it was so we could kiss our sweet arses goodbye.
