Yes, the adjustable sight on the .45 wasn't around in Al's time, since he died in 1947. It looks to be one made by MMC, which was founded in 1959. I installed one similar on a Hi-Standard Sport King, which made it very accurate.

Well, both are dead, now. Plus, there was the fact that neither the US, British, nor Soviet governments tried very hard to hunt down escaped Nazis, especially those thought to have fled to South America. That was, after all, why the Israelis went after them themselves. My best guess is that the Allies were just glad it was over, and that they had enough to try at Nuremberg.

The gaps in the circle were due to making up one stencil. The bridges creating the gaps held the stencil together. When painting a yellow circle, they would have used two stencils, one for the star, and one for the circle. To make a whole circle, wire is glued onto the cardboard stencil to hold the inner and outer pieces together. To make it cheaper, they used bridges in the cardboard, leaving the gaps.

The Germans were no better than the Soviets as far as atrocities, and lest we forget, Socialism begat Fascism. Of course, during the war, many atrocities have been carried out by the invader and the invaded, as well as some of the "allies" on both sides. The Geneva Conventions (four treaties and three protocols) were meant to stop this, but during the time of war, they are ignored by some, just as the League of Nations was ignored. Worse, war is always over trade disputes, the grab for natural resources, expansionism, and greed, but WWII had a more sinister aspect to it, which was the annihilation of some ethnic groups.

@gourmetwaters6916 I viewed one of the Davos meetings, and it was about digital currency. I was simply appalled, as it smacked of blaming the collective us (the institution), and even a certain ethnic group over a certain multinational investment bank and financial services company headquartered in New York City, which they brought up several times. In other words, to me, it smacked of antisemitism, and it had an anti-capitalist undercurrent. Several within the talk snickered about what was being said. One would think that this insidious ideology would have died away by now, but it hasn't, and it's growing. Now, we have "institutional name your ism." It makes one remember the Dreyfus Affair in France, (1894-1906), which was the trigger for everything leading us to today.

Funny, don't you think, that the Hess that escaped to Britain was a healthy and bulky man, who was going bald, but the man at the trial was much older, not going blad, and skinny as a rail, plus he spoke out of his head. Even in old age, this so-called Hess was no longer balding in back. In one of his letters was a complaint that he could no longer smoke. Hess never smoked. During the trial, Goring shouted out to Hess, "tell them your secret, Hess." The proof is in the photos and film footage in this very video.

At the end of the war, many of the Mauser 98s and Steyr Mannlichers were imported to the US, where gunsmiths (I am a retired one) converted them into some of the most beautiful and accurate hunting rifles available. They were restocked with expensive walnut from companies such as EC Bishop (now Macon Gunstocks), polished and reblued, the bolt handles cut, reformed, and welded to accept a scope, tested, and handed to the customer.

Our favorite three-letter agency, in the US, produced a paper about it. People will soon learn that Hitler and his ilk were puppets of those much more powerful (wealthy elite) than they, just as was Lenin and Stalin. They will soon learn that both Nazism and Communism were the creations of wealthy socialists in the allied countries. Once the power elite built up both sides, they pitted them against each other. Vietnam wasn't the only place fascists were used to “stop communism.” Post-war Germans were used in Greece, Italy, and Egypt as an example, and they were tied to intelligence.

@tomhenry897 There's that, and none of the allied nations wanted the location of his remains to be known to the public, as they stated that they didn't want those that still believed in Nazism to create a shrine around his final resting place, much like some did with Marx and others.

@jadunbar88 You could get either or at one time, the old Austrian M1895 (3 million built) or the Italian M91 Carcano (2.5 to 3 million built). Most of these were sold through military surplus, the government, or parts houses.

Fajen liked selling pre-finished stocks, and what I purchased was semi-finished (85%), which was then hand-fitted and sometimes, bedded, though Fajen did have them if I recall. Fajen was supposedly bought out by Macon too.

You should do a video about what occurred at FN in Belgium, where POWs were used. They sabotaged many, and the pistols could blow up in your hand. I don't know if anything like that occurred at Mauser or Walther. Saying this, I believe that I would have preferred the Walther P-38 during the war, especially over it being a double-automatic similar to how a revolver's action works.

It seems that several who were close to Hitler were perverts, like Hitler, himself. With Goebbels, I always did think that his problem was due to an inferiority complex. He saw those women as trophies, where he thought that he was "getting even" with all women for ignoring him sexually. By gaining that power, he used it to dominate them. He was similar to today's Incels.
