  1. The gaps in the circle were due to making up one stencil. The bridges creating the gaps held the stencil together. When painting a yellow circle, they would have used two stencils, one for the star, and one for the circle. To make a whole circle, wire is glued onto the cardboard stencil to hold the inner and outer pieces together. To make it cheaper, they used bridges in the cardboard, leaving the gaps.
