Notice how they always fall back on "international law." One should ask her which law, as that law was understood, at one time, to mean that an asylum seeker had to seek refuge in the first free nation they entered. They're not supposed to travel across multiple nations to seek it.

@maj9676 That's not how it works, as all UN contracting states, and this is all of Europe, must accept them when they enter that contracting state, and the "refugee" must quickly present themselves to them and ask for asylum. "Direct," would be those flown in directly from Afghanistan, etc, but not those that walked across several contracting states, which, by law, were abidged to take them, and those refugees also broke the law by not quickly presenting themselves and asking the first contracting state they were in for asylum. Only then could they request being sent on to another state. There were several attorneys, here, in the US, that brought this up over those travelling through Guatamalla and Mexico, etc., to come to the US. Both were contracting states with the UN. Also, any contracting state has the right to expell a refugee, without them being able to present evidence, on the grounds of national security.

This Convention shall cease to apply to any person falling under the terms of section A if: (3) He has acquired a new nationality, and enjoys the protection of the country of his new nationality... Article 31 Refugees unlawfully in the country of refugee 1. The Contracting States shall not impose penalties, on account of their illegal entry or presence, on refugees who, coming directly from a territory where their life or freedom was threatened in the sense of article 1, enter or are present in their territory without authorization, provided they present themselves without delay to the authorities and show good cause for their illegal entry or presence. (Notice the word, "directly" above). 2. The Contracting States shall not apply to the movements of such refugees restrictions other than those which are necessary and such restrictions shall only be applied until their status in the country is regularized or they obtain admission into another country. The Contracting States shall allow such refugees a reasonable period and all the necessary facilities to obtain admission into another country. That is where this originates in the newest version of international law after 1951. You can also be expelled on the grounds of national security.
