They also finance political campaigns. The financial and business sectors are the hidden hand that drives it all, and they have control over the political parties and set the agendas. That is why they are called the power elite. The difference between the party's agendas is about how to spend the profits from tax, etc, within the government, and how to appease their backers. This is why the intel agencies were formed, and why they are tied to the tax/tariff system, the military, and the port authority, etc. This is also why we have wars. It has always been about obtaining natural resources, the merchants, and their financiers in all political systems, as well as controlling land.
