Would it surprise anyone that the UK had become more left-wing, and very cozy with Russia over oil and gas, just as much of Europe did? Putin's interview was his chance to spread a great amount of propaganda via long spiels that meant nothing. Nations do not war over ancient historical property claims, and “denazification.” Wars are fought over economics, hard cash, and natural resources. That is the real reason that Russia invaded Ukraine, besides keeping NATO at arm's length.
