Robert Owen's idea was to take the child from the parents at an early age and place them into his textile mill's school to indoctrinate them into the communal workhouse environment. The parents would be both on the floor of the textile mill doing the labor during that time. Once the child was old enough, it would be placed into the mill to work as well. Engels was an Owenite and obtained many ideas from Owen, as well as Marx. All of them thought compulsory labor to be practical, and they were for it. It's no wonder that Lenin, Trotsky, and Stalin had the same ideas, as well as did the Germans. The odd thing is, the socialists are either wearing blinders and ignoring their sacred calves' use of forced compulsory (slave) labor, or they are willfully lying about it to the public by claiming to be against it. This, while they're pushing a revised and untruthful history on top of CRT.

Before the Civil War, the southern state's colleges required an applicant to have read an entire shelf of Greek literature while in high school. The northern colleges had already started dumbing down requiring half of what the south did. Of course, it was the northern colleges, starting with Columbia U, that introduced socialism via social science courses first. Of course, socialism and federalism walk hand in hand. Hillsdale is one of the few that haven't been touched because they receive no federal funding.

Sadly, materialism overtook the US, and after everyone was hooked, the manufacturers moved out to big business-friendly nations in Asia, which have no worker's rights, etc. They will keep moving their manufacturing around until a stop is put to it.
