  1. The reason that Sumer is important, is that it is the origin of what became the three monotheisms and their religious myths. Ur was supposedly the home of Abraham. However, just southwest of there is Eridu, which is said to be the origin of the myth of Eden, with Adam (Adapa), and the flood story with Noah (Ziusudra). Some of Sargon's tales, later on, can be matched to Moses as well. South of there, at Dilmun, or Telmun, was where the myth of Eve supposedly originated.
