Before the soviet union collapsed, information was very controlled and they did so much propaganda sugar coating it. So most socialists like Orwell supported the ideals of the soviet union. The wake up call was when they rolled tanks into Hungary and responded to the democratic will of the people by murdering them. That was the first split between libertarian socialist like Orwell and tankies who kept supporting the soviets. Orwell's books critiszes the bolsheviks and animal farm is a metaphor, with the pigs being Lenin, stalin and the bolsheviks.

  8. ​ @nobafan7515 All AI language models, limited or not, provide lies and make up sources. They are terrible for research and don't currently replace a basic websearch or Wikipedia skim read. A more precisely trained model that can properly cite sources is needed. Current models are only good at constructing coherent sentences, they aren't trained to fact check themselves.
