  1. Lol if the internet existed in east germany's time, the citizens would have no use for a VPN. All internet traffic would be surveiled by the government (similar to denmark and the UK spying on all their citizens and selling the data to the US NSA today) a vpn would still be travked and if the vpn goes outside east germany, thats even more reason to spy on that connection. Vpns only work against individuals or hackers trying to track you, but wont protect you against governments or big tech who already know everything about you.
