  6. EU and Switzerland prosper because they are still in the EU economic area, following customs, rules on products, VAT and more. If those countries couldn't trade easily with their neighbours, they would hurt their GDP a lot. That's what Britain did when they went for the 'hard' brexit, refusing to stay in the economic area.
