It's a tiny symptom compared to the housing markets fundamental flaws in capitalism. Airbnb makes the problems worse, but the problems will never go away until the system is fundamentally changed (life neccesities such as housing should not be a free market, and should be decommodified)

@JeremyMacDonald1973 I'm sadly very busy these days to give an in depth reply, but I recommend you look for works about the ideology of Georgeism. You can have a mixed market model too, the main fundamental is just that housing should be a baseline right and any extravagant mansion or luxury above that basic need can be tailored in different ways. USA downtown neighbourhoods are already crime ridden because the high rents turn people to crime. You need to have a broader understanding of government than the US centric dysfunctional version of government. We have more houses and homes than homeless people. Housing and the crisis that are always connected to it and the economic crisis they cause (China's housing markey will crash soon and push a global recession for example) are all human invented problems and can be solved too

@JeremyMacDonald1973 it's a model that should be expanded. But you see Denmark has much less of a housing crisis than the UK for example, due to better land tax policies.

@cmeisenman False, you only think of the soviet union (which was a planned economy capitalist, it was not communist (absence of state, absence of money, soviet union had both) and other fail states. Welfare systems in europe: socialist. Union negotiating wages: socialist. Healthcare and education not being private and free: socialist. Just because Capitalism still exists in some form in those countries, doesn't mean they aren't socialist at all.
