  25.  @HeartInLight  eh SLI was long dead before they removed the connector. Developers don't want to optimize for it and even when they do you can never fix the micro stuttering. SLI and crossfire is shit, consumers don't use it anymore either and that's why the connector was removed. It's just that prices of the old cards finally start to drop making the 2060 bad value. The 1070 and 1080 has increased in price again because they are going out of stock, but the Vega cards are now cheaper than them

A cheap freesync monitor is worse than an expensive asynchronous monitor (all of then are expensive)but a premium expensive freesync monitor has always been just as good

  37.  @TJ.85  Nothing like an intel fanboy who has to write an essay just to come close to explaining why an overpriced product is better than the competitor. The best gaming chip is the 10600k, the 10900k is not good for anyone, because if you care just a little bit about productivity you'd get the 16 core. If you care about gaming you will get the i5 witht he same framerates and use the saved money for a better GPU also the 3900X has been out for over a year. Next gen i right around the corner, intel is playing catchup and they won't get there until they get to 7 nm in 2 years-ish

And no when the 9900k is twice as expensive a more expensive motherboard for a thread ripper won't make a big difference. It's a better investment long term too since you can upgrade your 10/12 core thread ripper to a 16 or even 32 core one later down the line, while the Intel chips et has probably run its course and will need an upgrade once they release mainstream 10 core CPU's that are not skylake x Intel also would want to lower prices but they can't. It's not like they are Apple and over price because they can get away with it's because their bigger chips are so expensive to make, they need to make wifi chips for phones more than they did a year ago. That's why none of their CPU's are competivly priced anymore, the 8700k was good value at launch, now it's 70% more expensive. And sure, the stupid 1% of PC gamers who buy the most expensive thing even though it's a few percent more performance for insane price increase are a minority, Ryzen is dominating all top selling CPU charts on Amazon etc. The 8700k was the only one conpetetion for the top selling spots, because as you said it's the fastest for games, but now that it's so expensive that is no longer the case

  65. There was a high end Polaris planned, that would probably use the max 64 CUs, maybe it would have been called the RX 490X. However it was canceled to focus on Vega. Vega was overpriced because of HBM2, a high end Polaris would have used GDDR5, it would have been interesting to see how the market would have been if that card came out instead of Vega

  67.  @kotekzot  its more because the 7nm node gets fully effecient, at some point you can't push clockspeeds anymore. They could make special SKU's like intels 9900KS, but those will still be rare. AMD just makes more money on epyc, thredripper and high end ryzen and its why we likely dont see many APU's. The APU chips are focused to laptops since there is more money in that as well

DLSS is just running the game at 1800p with a beer version of TAA. same performance and same picture quality that is more blurry than native 4k (although with less artifact with motion compared to Taa) what dlss achieves can be had on any other freaking GPU. don't fall for Nvidia marketing. They think people are stupid, don't prove them right

You are the 1% of gamers and you have to stop acting like everyone has the budget, or is willing to spend as much money as you. For most people getting good enough graphics and performance is enough. That's why 1000 USD desktops are the ones mostly built, and even more people have rigs below that, nearing console levels of pricing. The 8700k is the very high end. Yes it was top selling a month ago and so, before they increased the price by 70%, but on all the other 4 spots on the top 5 on Amazon were Ryzen. A lot of people don't want to buy the 8700k now that it's overpriced, and the same with 9900k. Intel can't produce enough chips, they are trying to get 10 nm going, which takes production away from 14 nm, and mobile phones are having higher and higher demand, which Intel is also making chips for. I'm not coming up with any excuses, this is how the market is now and yes they will still sell, but Intel is on a slippery slope, because they increase prices over time, while it should be the opposite (for example Ryzen price falls over time especially when the new gen is about to release.) Intel is dominating the sheep mentality right now, but at some point people will realize they are utter idiots for paying almost twice as much for a CPU, only for 15% more performance, as is the case for the 2700x vs 9900K, and that's not even factoring in the fact Intel motherboards are more expensive and you need to buy an aftermarket cooler as well.

But when you pay for a cheap freesync monitor of course it's not going to be so good as an overpriced gsync one. Long story short. Gsync is overpriced, consumers hate it, manufacturers hate it, the nvidia tax ruins the value. Freesync gives consumers more choice for cheaper monitors. gsync is dead but nvidia will push hard to suck money out of brands with the "Gsync compatible" bullshit on freesync monitors. Adaptive sync is simple to do, the shitty module is just horrible tax, come with some argument because "display scaling"isn't even used when you run a monitor at native refresh rate Ghosting, overdrive and other things are down to the panel and monitor, not the sync technology.

The gsync FPGA is probably good but there is nothing stopping manufacturers getting a just ad good FPGA but much cheaper because it doesnt have the nvidia tax. And again for the actual technology, its the same. Countless test have been done on monitors that have similar panels and so on. Same input latency, same amount if ghosting and same performsnce overall. Gsync is overpriced plain and simple
