If Alec followed the 4 golden firearm safety rules, plus the additional 5th rule of 'check every firearm handed to you' this would have never happened.

@carrollsanders9376 If he checked the firearm, pulled the rounds out he would clearly be able to see if it was pointy or not. A blank round doesn't have a projectile.

@juliee.7072 A decent person who cares about other humans should...treat every firearm as if loaded...be aware of your target & what is beyond...do not put your finger on the trigger until on target & ready to shoot...does not point any firearm any anything you wish not to destroy. Alec failed every safety rule.
