Any new airport should have a LOT more land than needed and a permanent ban on any residential development nearby.

@markanthony1004 California's former state controller, Ken Cory bought a house 2 miles from the Sacramento airport, then whined about the noise. He knew it would be noisy, but bought the house anyway and demanded more than $700K to be bought out. People like him caused airlines to throttle back over the next county to protect their precious ears and the people living in that county had to deal with noise they never had to listen to before.

@ljthirtyfiver They do it to small businesses too. A veterinary office that had operated for decades in the Sacramento area got shut down by people that didn't like hearing dogs barking at a place that cares for dogs. One that was there before they built homes nearby.

@JoeDFWAviation Coincidentally, I used to live in a town where I could hear the school's marching band from more than a mile away. They weren't as bad as the trains, which were required to blow their horns 4 times at all 5 crossings near me if the gates and signals were working or not.
