Then they backtracked their promisse. Then after the WW2 the zionists got the bigger part of the Palestine, even though they were way less in number than the palestinians. And even so they military occupied the West Banks and Gaza. Just search for the term "Nakba" to get more details on how it started. (It is what the palestinians call the first expulsion caused by the israelites.)
