  2. Nuno is absolutely the BEST virtuoso guitarist I've ever seen live. I've been fortunate enough to see pretty much all of the living rock legends perform live - Van Halen, Vai, Lynch, Petrucci, Friedman, Slash, Wylde, Dimebag, Jabs, Skolnick, Malmsteen, DeMartini, Cruz, Jake E Lee, Tracii Guns, etc, and NO ONE is as fast, smooth, accurate and soulful as Nuno. We were aware of Extreme from the radio and videos, but not even casual fans. He went from not even being on our list to being the top of the list in one concert. We were just floored. He is mind-numbingly good. I told him same thing when I got to meet him in Hollywood. I'm sure he is aware of his abilities, but he was very gracious and humble and seemed genuinely complimented. Friendly and quiet. Not a very large dude either, but he's a legend in my book. If he plays near your town, I highly recommend seeing his show. Cheers!

  3. Modern music is amateurish by comparison, because it is indeed written by part time artists. Brilliant hit songs get written when an artist works on music 40+ hours per week for years, not 40 hours per month between day jobs. The same reason you won't make it into major league baseball by playing 3rd base for your factory's weekend baseball team. The crippling loss of album sales means record labels cannot afford to support a musical artist full time. Downloading and streaming killed the professional song writer. Don't like today's music? Blame the (non) record buying public. It's sad but true.

  11.  @chelfyn  I totally agree, but I can't really blame them. It's hard to take chances when there's barely enough money in the industry nowadays to support artists. They gotta stick with what works. Risks are just that - risky. Risks can only happen when people have a cushion to fail with. Otherwise, 'don't rock the boat' so they can try and pay those bills. It's lose/lose for everyone. :(

  18. There was a band called Girl in the UK. On their first album, they did a KISS cover. Later, they got their big break when they were selected to open up for KISS on the European arena tour. On night one Girl played the KISS cover. Gene Simmons pulled the singer aside and said something like "You probably didn't know this, but it's bad form. Please don't play it again." The next night Girl played the tune anyway. They got kicked off the arena tour, and broke up soon after. My takeaway? Maximize those big opportunities, and keep your ego in check.

With this software, when ANYONE can have a computer compose a competitive song for them, they will not be as keen to support others when they can be promoting themselves. When anyone can be a rock star, it loses all intrinsic value, and there will be no rock stars.

If it takes you a month to write, record and release a song to the public, there will be 100 000 songs released by AI in the same genre that month in which your song will have to compete with. How will we determine what the number one song is? The one that has 100 likes, instead of the 10 000 000 songs that have 1 like each? Do you even want to bother copyrighting a song few people will ever hear?

  24. Cool Vid Rick! Kinda figured that Back in Black would make the list. I'm an audio engineer and I always tweak albums to sound better and more consistent with the other tunes on my phone. BiB was one of the only albums that I couldn't eek a better mix out of - It went on as is. 40 years later, it's still of the the penultimate rock mixes. Cheers!

  25. There are two takeaways here: 1.) Make those huge opportunities happen. If they would have slayed opening for Creed in Los Angeles, they would have been signed immediately. There may have even been a bidding war. 2.) Keep your ego in check. You're in a nobody band playing clubs. Be humble. Even if you make it to Creed's level eventually, be humble. There's a million people looking to replace you as the next big thing, so keep your ego in check - it may make your career last longer. Cheers!

Selling 20 million albums DOES mean they're good. If they were an objectively, demonstrably terrible band, they never would have signed a recording agreement, let alone had management. There is literally nothing wrong with their music. You just don't care for it. That's fine. Neither do I. But the are certainly not "Nowhere. Because they sucked lol"

Creed were not terrible, you just don't care for their music. I couldn't get into it either, but there's nothing objectively wrong with it.
