Most of the carriers.. which included carden loyd rather than universal that were kept operable were converted into half track trucks for the eastern front alongside pz1 track units... the actual use of tanks was (except some latest cruiser) fairly negative and resulted in a lot of wasted work... I know some of these mobile arty pieces might have looked good but in reality the suspension broke and the shields were not as advertised armoured plate but mild steel... in deed many german track conversions to gun carriages used mild steel which was reported at the time (they billed for armour plate) as this plate was needed for half armoured carrier production... the 2pdr guns were the most useful prize along with light vehicles and small arms.... only a modest amount of all this was at Dunkirk however (in terms of heavy equipment) with much abandoned many miles away or in different areas altogether... quite unlike the lines of well maintained french tanks just handed over by some units not all of their army... radio equipment was also not properly sabotaged and this was useful... but really I woulf have to say the 2 pdr because of the ammo captured was the most useful for about 12 to 18 months of everything taken....

The operation was utterly insane.. there was no reason to insist on leaving most rifles and LMGs..
