  1. +ewt415 There is no such thing as "Similar" in the tyre industry. You either have the same, or not. Pzero Trofeo R and Sport Cup 2 are both semi-slicks, yet they don't deliver the same performance.

  2. ewt415 Look: the GT-R Nismo and the Viper ACR are on the exact same category. They are both in the same segment, have pretty much the same performances (overall), and carry price tags not so far from each other. The GT-R has a four seats, a 3.8l Twin turbo V6, a DCT and is AWD. The Viper has a 8.3l V10, a manual, two seats and is RWD. Are they competitors ? Oh yes. Do they serve the same purpose ? Yep. Are they really similar ? They couldn't be more far from each other. But they are two interpretations of the same thing from different companies. The Cup 2 and Trofeo R story is the same. Two tires can both be performance tires (two performance cars in my example), semi-slicks (track focused, like the cars), but have almost opposite characteristics.

  3. ewt415 I just said that Pirelli and Michelin, even less than Dunlop and Michelin here, work very differently. I have not actually defended the GT-R in anyway. And btw for the GT-R, truth is it actually can be faster than the 991 GT3. Around the Nordschleife, the GT-R, in its latest version (non Nismo), did 7:18. The GT3 "only" managed 7:25. The GT-R can both accelerate faster than the 12C (well at least to a hundred) and be faster around a track. Same for the GT3.   Btw there are semi-slicks and semi-slicks. Some are more extreme than others... Plus Michelin is usually seen as the best tyre manufacturer, while Dunlop... Not really.  The Nismo and the ACR are not as far as you'd think. The Nismo can beat a GT3 RS. I'll not say easily but.... pretty much. To be fair, the N-Attack Nismo has not been tested by anyone except Nissan. It is a lot quicker than the regular Nismo though. To say that the ACR and the Nismo are in completely different categories is pretty wrong. The Sport Cup 2 is close to be the best tyre on the market, and makes a huge difference. It's one of the reasons the 918 is quicker than its competitors despite its disadvantages. Long story short: no semi slick tyre actually is as good as the Cup 2. Period.  PS: The ACR has 650hp and the GT-R 600

  4. Try the Nismo then. With the N-Attack package, only the 918 can beat it.
