If you take away the consequences of committing most crimes, people will start stealing first, when they see so many others getting away with it Scot free. Then they move onto more serious crimes. Robbing shops for example. No jail for that? Just bail and ‘don’t do it again’ ? No wonder they do it. Zero consequences.
