  1. In your hypothetical scenario everyone who have US denominated debt stops paying their bills. However the doesn't sound like how things would happen. The scenario of inflation is when the US government can't pay IT'S debts in dollars, a point we're already reaching. Then it must either print to devalue the currency, or default on the debt. If the currency is sufficiently devalued, those debts that other people have are worth a lot less.
