When I first watched this video I was making $40K doing freelance work. Fast forward to the end of this year, my base is $100K with stock options. It's really about what you can do in this industry. Once you get skilled and prove yourself you can get paid. No it wasn't easy, yes the hours of study and practice were worth it.

@wschaffr1 If the company respects your work hours agile doesn't have to burn you out.

Aaron has a Ukrainian girlfriend now I bet ;)

How can you be sure you aren't just blinking and missing it?

I started watching your videos when I got my first programming job. Now I landed a remote job and I'm living in Mexico. Good on you going to Ukraine, trust me you're not alone, some of us with a brain (and no kids at home) are jumping ship.

More like $100K. 20% is only for a smaller project on a single client. Over $500 on a client is 10% fee from there. Since he sets a minimum of $15K, most of his earnings are at 10% or even 5% fee level.

lol I had no idea it was such a common story. But I'm another one right here.

They told me ten years ago to give up on remote work because it would all be a race to the bottom competing with India. My job is still here, and I just got a few new offers since Trump got elected.

That's quite good

@Alex-df4lt We'll see what happens with COVID restrictions this year. I still haven't seen most of Europe, I hope to one day.

@Alex-df4lt I understand, and I hope you are right. Some politicians seem to want to stay shut down for longer than that.

If I was making 200K I wouldn't be afraid to leave to another country. I'd have like 50K in the bank

@Monk_7777m Unfortunately 200K isn't 200K. Using this calculator https://smartasset.com/taxes/income-taxes#FHlcDIgfzI (and a low tax state in USA) my take home would be $139,617. But yeah for me I could actually save more than $50K from that, I just pulled $50K as a conservative number.

I'd rather just budget my money and use my extra time on my own projects.
