Been there, any job with more than 2 interviews is a red flag. Shows a lack of respect for the candidate.

That's the way to do it. My main focus is on savings and investments, so I don't necessarily need a promotion. Or I can make my own by building a product.

I try to be as honest as possible in interviews. "Here's what I'm good at and what I like to do".

*Bad for big tech. Good for smaller companies looking to compete on benefits.

He turned down 1099 jobs. I've been working 1099 for years and it works just fine.

@custos3249 I was honest with my current clients. I said hey these are the technologies I'm good at and what I've done with them. These are the things I'm interesting in doing. These are the projects I've worked on relevant to yours.

I don't care how bad the market is, no serious candidate is getting rejected by 1600 companies. Maybe 100.

One thing I think you should give people a chance on is the "enterprise experience" stuff. Most businesses out there are small to medium sized businesses. That is where people are getting their experience and someone at 5 years experience at a smaller company probably isn't willing to take on an entry level position at an "enterprise level" company. So you're missing out on all that talent.

In a down economy perhaps not. Also if you aren't aiming for anything, there is less of a chance of promotion.
