  1. The reason that nobody respects the laws is because of how many of them are shit. When it is illegal to grow marijuana, the law is bad. When it is illegal to alter the phone that you purchased, the law is bad. When it is legal for the cops to take your things without charging you with a crime, the law is bad. When it is legal for the police to utilize mass surveillance of innocent people, the law is bad. There are countless other bad laws. And that is why the law isn't respected.

  2. The US is founded on being able to have whatever values you want. That was what was mean by free men. Free men have their own land and means of surviving without participating in society. All so you can have open values, and you are not beholden to the values of others.
