having a privately owned business that the state pays seems to be stupid to me. if you are going to go commie, or socialist than the government should be directly running the institutions as well as own the property and infrastructure for it. they should hire people who's job is to continually innovate effective ways to save and run more efficiently who work for base pay plus a bonus based upon a percentage of the money they save the government with their changes.

High Octane yeah, human nature is a bitch. i am under the belief that the only way socialism can really work and thrive is if the leaders are AI programs with no self interests. i wouldn't expect an AI to go corrupt. i do think it is POSSIBLE to do it with humans. the human leader would have to be a selfless monk. such people exist, but they never seek positions of power. the very thing that makes them a great leader is what prevents them from becoming a great leader.

High Octane human organizations and tribes existed long before capitalism did. capitalism was built off the back of successful socialist groups.

High Octane the tribe owned it as a whole. i guess you could consider it communism more than socialism. people simply helped out their fellow tribe members. in the gatherer hunter days, you only owned what you could carry.

High Octane how is that not related to socialism. and how does socialism promote the idea that every member of society is universally equal? socialism is about the tribe owning the property rather than an individual. a bad hunter does not use the spear because it is not good for the tribe. but the spear does not belong to the person who made it. it belongs to the tribe, and the best person to use the spear will use it, because that is best for the tribe. i think you are straw manning socialism and attacking things that are not socialism although they frequently are associated with socialism. this would be like saying nationalism is bad because nationals are racists (hint: not all nationalists are racists, and nationalism itself doesn't promote racism even if many racists are nationalists). the idea that everyone is equal is stupid. equality belongs in math, not in government or sociology.
