Ser Ratty, Where are you going to draw the line on that one? Can't Crispr-cas9 be considered a potential weapon of mass destruction? And yet at the same time it is a potential cure for many diseases. Weapons are tools, and often the same technology used to make a weapon can be used for other things as well.

Like I said earlier Cas9 can be used to create a WMD. The potential lethality of Cas9 is greater than that of nuclear bombs. Yet it can also be used to cure diseases. It all depends on how the technology and discovery is used. It can be used in a benign of useful fashion or it can be weaponized and used to destroy. Another good example would be artificial intelligence. It can be used for many good purposes or for many bad purposes.

Ok, I thought you were looking for excuses to bar research on certain things because of the potential to create weapons of mass destruction. I misunderstood you. Just about anything can be weaponized. The drones we use in the middle east were invented by a man who cried when he saw them get weaponized. He had envisioned them being used to make cheap passenger flights so that people could travel easier. He did not realize that the US government would attach missiles to them and use the systems on smaller aircraft.

As for drugs and hedonism, I am in support of legalization and regulation of nearly all drugs. I think the idea that recreational drugs are bad is a stupid idea.
