for those institutions that have the room, infrastructure and money to do it, they could create 3 bathrooms, a men, women's and disabled/changing room. this last room could be used by either gender, could be extra wide to accommodate wheelchairs (why only accommodate one type of disability?) have rails, and accommodate people with young children who need to have their diaper changed. i wouldn't say this should be expected in all establishments. rather it should be something that is provided by those institutions that can afford to do so and have the building infrastructure to do so (keep in mind not everyone can afford to renovate an old building that had two small bathrooms). i still don't think this should be a TED talks though. TED used to be about science, technology and innovation, not about equality and various brands of humanism.
