I think we should allow genetic modification for prettier children. The thing is, that people care more about pretty people. That isn't a very nice thing to talk about, but it is true. If we want the future societies to care about each other and to have a vested interest in each other's welfare, a huge thing we could do, is to make the people in those societies more attractive so that they care about each other more. It is easy to ignore the plight of an invisible or an ugly person, it is much harder to do the same for an attractive person. Making society prettier is making it better.
