I saw some old and lost claims from 18th century historians that red hair was made on what is now Ireland in what would be considered a human breeding ground. The red hair was deliberately bred with children that had other hair colors being sold into slavery. Apparently the light blonde haired ones were desirable and sent north, purchased at a high price, while the dark haired ones were sent east, sold as cheap slave labor for selling rocks from what I heard, they were used to gather and sell large rocks. Men competed or cheated or bought their way onto the island which was held as a sacred place from the mainlanders who purchased the children as well as sailors who purchased the children. I think modern historians like to erase some of history because of how nasty some of it can get.
