Yeah, after a long rational decades long search, I found the answer to nihilism is that the inherent meaning of life is beauty. Beauty precedes good and evil as far as cognitive processes go. Very simple creatures judge each other as beautiful or ugly and life is dictated by that in all species that have sexual selection as a primary mechanism of selection (rather than survival to reproduce which is the case in some species/cultures). Its no accident that we associate good with beautiful and bad with evil, I just think that the good and bad are complexes that we have created over the hardwiring of beauty seeking. So all of that was a long winded way of saying that humans inherently seek beauty and find meaning in it, because evolution has selected for that behavior.
