  22. The concept of childhood is seen differently throughout the world. There is no western childhood for most of the people on earth, it is an artifact of the Christian Victorian era. Countries that were never dominantly Christian never had that outlook of childhood. Rather the children are adults in training. And that is why university students in other countries don't need to be babysat. I feel sorry for this young woman, only because she is living in a country that already had female empowerment and the reduced wage labor that is a result of it. Now she is a working mother, the vast majority of women who marry as children are stay at home mothers who can survive at a normal economic rate as the other people in their society while only their husband works. They can feed many children with just a single income. This woman cannot do that.
