@DgurlSunshine You can clean up nuclear isotopes if you can separate them. You can use a Thorium reactor with Mox fuel to breed the unstable isotopes into stable non-radioactive forms. It does require a rare type of nuclear power plant and a rare and dangerous and very expensive form of fuel. China can't win that war, its a simple geography problem they have. The jet stream leads from US to China, it does not go from China to the US. If China puts nuclear fallout in the US, it can easily end up over in China because of wind, but it won't go the other way around from China to the US. This geographic reality will always favor the US in a nuclear war.
