  1. I heard from a unreliable source that Freyja was more popular than Thor or Odin but that this was violently squashed from history by the Catholic Church. Same with the Irish goddess Bridgit, and that Freyja and Bridgit were basically the same goddess with different names and appearances. They were sun goddesses of fertility and were given credit for good crops and surviving childbirth. The dogs that pulled Freyja's sled are the origin of the term "sun dogs" but their word for it. Unreliable source however, not sure where he gets his info.
