When I am told to think of the children, I like to remind myself that they will spend three quarters of their life or more as adults. Cartels bringing paying customers through borders is legally considered human trafficking. If you don't have the right papers, and you take a uber across state lines to go do black market work that you chose to do for profit, then the uber driver is a human trafficker. These victims are paying customers, and they aren't allowed to speak for themselves. They are victims of the laws more than they are victims of the services that they paid for and whom faithfully provided the service that they paid for. The laws themselves create the black markets, and those black markets must have their own police forces that become violent and create hidden oppressive environments. If you want individuals to suffer more, support all of these laws. But when I am told to think of the children, I like to remind myself that children stay children for a short time, and are adults for the rest of their lives. The children need to have hope for the future.
