  1. My mother's village dowries and gifts were way too high. I befriended the cabbie warning me about the match makers and families talking to my parents. We listened: over $888,888RMB ($120,000US) bride price, house, cars, gold jewelry, cakes, red envelopes... etc. I hadn't seen the girls yet. At the time, I lived with my parents, worked as a computer engineer, had 2 cars, stock and gold investments. They looked at me (I just listened): not tall enough, not handsome, dressed poorly (no suit), can't talk, looks clumsy... etc. So I was pre-judged, did not meet their requirements so the prices went higher. With these facts, I wonder why men have problems in China!! I did get married with no dowry!!
