  1. I'm Chinese American went with my parents to visit their village. Match makers were frantic to pressure my parents to get me married. We were called "金 山 客", so the dowries and demands got ridicules. I said "Yes" and handed the mother a US $2.00 bill. This started a riot. Never heard so much cussing and swearing. The cabbie got us out and drove us away. The cabbie and my parents were crying from laughing so hard. Bad joke I guess.

  2.  @lisaward8024  I talked to the local cabbie, bought him coffee and walked around. Got back to my parents at the courtyard listening to mothers yelling demands. I pulled a $2 bill, said I'll take your daughter! The cabbie grabbed us and drove off. We did go back to the village 10 years later, but that's another story.

  5.  @pauldwalker  Not a Legend. From a poor family and being an only child, I had to learn to amuse myself. As I grew older, my parents understood me being funny. Nothing destructive or gross, but offering to buy the bride with a US $2 bill!! Probably would win "Home's Funniest Videos"!

  6.  @sir1junior  Think about it. Paying $2.00 or about 15 yuan for a girl. They wanted $$$$$$ yuan. I did that after listening to all the demands, plus the girls weren't that attractive. I did get married to a gorgeous girl unexpectedly.

  7.  @gracenovamon20th95  I will let you maintain the Chinese tradition. I paid no "彩礼" for my wife. Actually, she asked: "Would you marry me"? I kisses her and said "Yes". As for money and assets, it's all there.
