  1. Great insightful look at a random piece of Taiwanese internet culture that I had never heard of. I found it funny at 4:20 when you said "it uses a more modern network protocol called Telnet". LOL telnet is by no means a modern network protocol haha. The quality of the PTT's authentication and encryption will be extremely lacking compared to running a modern web service over HTTPS

  2. The solution is definitely to call out people who post stupid and false information with accurate information based in science, rather than the censorship approach favored in some countries. It would be very sad if valid hypotheses get marked by society as crazed conspiracy theories because they got (incorrectly) evaluated as less likely than the alternative hypotheses. In the initial stages of the outbreak the "lab leak" hypothesis was clearly mistakenly identified as a conspiracy theory. Yes, it may yet turn out to be false (it may even be more likely to be false), but it definitely continues to be a valid hypothesis that needs investigation until it is ruled out.
