  1. 4:33 I am skeptical of the claims that 1975's Typhoon Nina caused a "one-in-10,000-year flood" along the Ru River and Hong River region. That's a very long time for accurate historical records to survive in oral and written history. It far easier for the population to accept that the Banqiao Dam failed after just 24 years when people say it was "built to withstand a one-in-1,000-year flood but it failed during a one-in-10,000-year flood". This was China during the Cultural Revolution. I'm sure the dam faced poor maintenance and mismanaged water release over a much longer period of time which contributed greatly to its collapse.
