I know Japan, Europe and South Korea have work cultures that prize joining safe/large/established companies immediately after entering the workforce, with major societal pressure (seen as a failure) if you choose to pursue life paths with less guaranteed success. I presume Taiwanese youth have a similar outlook.

  2. I don't think saturation of internet businesses is a big deal. The low-hanging fruit may have been picked in mature fields, but the world is always changing. In virtually every niche there are highly profitable software businesses just waiting to be built. And not every software business needs to grow to employ tens of thousands of people.
