  1. I just finished listening to the 2012 book by historian Niall Ferguson called "The Great Degeneration: How Institutions Decay and Economies Die". A pretty short and thought provoking audio book. Many of Niall's arguments and predictions on the future of the US economy are far more pessimistic than Peter Zeihan's. It's a 12 year old book but very interesting for those here who've listened to Peter's (amazing) books

I still like Peter Zeihan's work even if the government of India is not (yet?) engaging in piracy of commercial oil tankers like Zeihan predicted it would with receding US power

But his concrete predictions include the impact of reaching a key 90% debt to GDP ratio threshold and how economic productivity and medium inflation won't save the US from economic stagnation in the long term. It's a very different vision to Zeihan's reasoning around US having healthy demographics, resources and monetary supply compared to other countries
