  1. I just love the way there's all this analysis and then Seal says it was naive play basically trying to imitate an orchestra, and deflecting analysis of the lyrics to whatever anyone else thinks. I think he's obviously listened to stuff intensely, read widely, absorbed and synthesized it on the fly. I think there's a particular genius in that and also an egalitarian guileless goad to playful generous adventure. Look for your instincts, the grammar you don't know you know as one linguistic textbook is titled. Heart & intelligence combined finds these flourishes that head to some sort of shared musical language in a dense way. The production is something you're really looking to. It makes me laugh though because not really playing instruments I'm 'at this stage' which of course sounds ridiculously presumptuous in contrasting circumstances with much less confidence or stature, I don't know chords or keys. I think it's basically a goal and a goad to play more. To trust feel & instinct and to develop them!? But a great production & the kit to do that definitely help!
