Used in self defence 1,276 times - 1.49% 2020 - total not given 82,996 injuries & deaths. Used in self defence 1,473 times - 1.78% 2019 - total not given 69,690 injuries & deaths. Used in self defence 1,595 times - 2.29% 2018 - 55,058 total 43,609 injuries & deaths. Used in self defence 1,896 times - 3.4% 2017 - 58,941 total 47,117 injuries & deaths. Used in self defence 2,120 times - 3.6% 2016 - 55,807 total 45,756 injuries & deaths. Used in self defence 1,997 times - 3.6% 2015 - 49,039 total 40,524 injuries & deaths. How on earth is it a “God given right” to carry a deadly weapon??? Pretty sure one of the Ten Commandments says something about “Thou SHALT NOT KILL” 🙄

I really find it hilarious that the same supposedly religious people who claim “all life is precious” are so keen on being able to kill people if they so choose. Hypocrites much? 🙄

And because of those millions of people with guns, tens of thousands of Americans die every year from gun violence, because it’s far too easy to reach for a gun & kill people or have them kill themselves. Just look at the stats - there are more guns in America than people, and Americans are more likely to be killed or injured via gun violence than any other western/first world nation on earth 🤷‍♀️

Just a side note - as long as one person is calling the police/ambulance, more people don’t need to ring. It just ties up lines & doesn’t get help there any faster. So unless you don’t know if someone else has rung, only have one person who is with any victims &/or has specific detailed information about the situation, call. We sometimes have 2 or 3 emergency medical dispatchers on the phone to people who we can hear in the background talking to our colleagues. It’s like some people think making more calls will get help there faster. It will still be triaged/prioritised the same way & get the same resources in the same time, no matter how many people ring. But, having said that, if you don’t know if anyone has rung 911/000/999 etc (depending on your country), then please ring or ask if anyone has rung. You don’t want to fall into the trap of everyone assuming someone else has called & later finding out no one has.
