When you see the arrest video, the first thing you see as the mother opens the door is a cross on the wall. Makes me wonder how much religion & fear of consequences due to religious beliefs influenced this girl & her wanting to hide it from her mother. She murdered her baby so she will definitely be suffering the consequences now. And while I get that the mother’s response was probably affected by her shock at the situation & her caring about her daughter, the discussion with parents from both sides in the waiting room, does show that the girl’s mother seems unusually detached from the fact that she had a grandchild who died.
