Its been noted that politics and other contentious topics have started to derank more immediately after Elon bought it. Grand example, Japanese twitter used to be full of politics bait and immediately after the buy was finalized the trending became anime and art.

Do keep in mind people used to pay upwards of $15,000 or more just for the verified checkmark, so it clearly had worth to those type of people. (granted that $15,000 was not a public figure, it was via corporate fraud quid pro quo type stuff, yes anyone should've been capable to be verified, but verified was fraudulently locked behind a paywall, it had no incentive to be done well)
