@cakeisyummy5755 Its not a defense, its nuance, there is a difference, it be foolish to conflate every realistic explanation of truth and history with a defense. It be like saying the Crusades were entirely evil because of every Crusade and for what the crusaders did, that's not a very reasoned perspective, there were plenty of justified arguments we could apply from our modern perspectives that would justify much of the Crusades, as the pagans and Muslims throughout much of that time raided and pillaged everything outside their realms and were continuously encroaching upon the Christian realms, its not a defense of all of the Crusades, but it needs to be reasoned and understood why it happened and you can't treat history as a moral playground, else history is entirely pointless. We need to stop moralizing history.

AfD isn't "far-right", its literally the exact same platform as the CDU with the only difference being their immigration perspective, if the AfD is far right then so is the CDU, both of which isn't even the most extreme of "right-wing" in western European countries, Denmark and Czechia are much more "far-right" in that sense.

@mr.eichhorn4013 The AfD's position is literally the same as the CDU on all of those, if you actually read their policies you would know that, the literal only thing they disagree with the CDU on is immigration. The AfD is not euroskeptic, the AfD don't have a different climate change agenda, the AfD don't desire a new currency, and the AfD does not have anymore positive attitude on Russia then the CDU.

The descriptions of the HRE seem to sort of fit the description of the EU actually very aptly. (true Forth Reich anyone) Still second to the US and China in almost everything tho.

Fuck, didn't expect the US to still outweigh the British Empire of today in both military and economic value. That' kinda crazy, its like 10 times the land, 5 times the population, and they'd still not nearly match us.

I think people are stupid, the EU is a rather problematic state where the laws are more broken and full of loopholes then any other international organization in the world. The cause of this is due to international trade agreements attempting to be countries are doomed to fail half way, and which should not be attempted in the first place. Brexit proves the mess the EU actually is, and leaving, while may seem economically damaging in the short term, in the long term, it gives the UK much more influence over its economy and territories, and will no longer be governed by people who don't even live nearby. This most effective because the UK is on of the stronger islands with a large influence on the EU even after its leave. Anyone still sitting on the idea that the EU will work out can expect about as much success as the League of Nations who just bullied Germany into WWII. Only its much worse because the majority of laws that benefit one group of people will not benefit a majority of any other area. By the end of the day, the EU is a mess that nobody has gotten around the cleaning, that shouldn't have come to existence in the first place. Someone who believes that the EU should continue to live is holding on to a death ticket as nothing but destruction will remain as it goes on.

I'm pretty confident in saying the reported fertility rate in Eastern Germany was a complete front, those social programs have repeatedly demonstrated in literally every other case historically to only result in falling birth rates, and every former Soviet country following the collapse of the Iron Curtain was reported to have a lower fertility rate even when the policies hadn't yet changed.
