have you heard of the free market? the only good thing the free market does is that it reacts to incentives and functions and responds accordingly, its ability to adapt so what happens when you create an artificial incentive to move away form carbon emitting actions and industries? the market reacts and society adapts if i cant convince capitalists to use the only ability of the free market to solve the looming climate crisis then i might as well start shooting CEOs in the fuel industry because the problem wont magically go away just because you post sarcastic and frankly uneducated comments on YouTube
2
well we didnt evolve for "80% of earths history" we evolved to live in the now, if things change too fast we cant adapt
2
medieval warming period was regional not global so thats immediately enough to disqualify the rest of your shit because why should i argue with someone who cant tell the difference between regional and global change
2
"Sort out the younger generation of today that disrespect their elders, disrespect property, disrespect their own lives, then maybe they may deserve a brighter future." this is like the exact sentiment every generation has had for the youth for thousands of years even boomers where thought of in this way
2
literally the best thing to fund research is the government, why? because you can set up checks an balances that make the system unbiased you know who cant? companies, they will inherently look for profit
2
the problem i have is that i dont want ecological collapse from which millions will die and billions will suffer
2
@QuartuvLarry no, if they move the cost onto the customer the customer will get a cheaper product from someone else and you lose business and go bankrupt eventually learn basic economics
1
@QuartuvLarry holy shit, what do you think free market competition is? just the exact same product made the exact same way but with a different brand label on it? if someone makes a competing product either by changing the product or method its produced to emit less carbon, then what carbon are we supposed to tax? wow, i cant believe you actually thought this was a smart point, low point in human thinking here
1
@SuperDachshund "We can’t adapt??? Seriously??" we can, when change is slow enough, but if you look at history, you know what happens when change is rapid and when did i say humans specifically is what im talking about? im talking about "we" as in life
1
@KenJackson_US yes, thats why our assholes are hairy, such clever design
1
@SuperDachshund its not greened today, i have seen the articles, if you are so clued up, give me the variable they used to determine that the earth was "greening"
1
@SuperDachshund so it detects coverage, not density or productivity or anything like that, just the amount of green you see from the ski and in this case the northern tundra regions of Canada, the nordics and russia is where this greeining is taking place do you think tundra moss is as important as the amazon rain forest?
1
@SuperDachshund yet desertification is on the rise, tropical zone are being deforested at immense rates, droughts lead to fires and the amazons rain pattern is experiencing turbulence because of the PPM co2 content affecting rain formation also polar bears dont eat moss also thats just one species, do you know how many millions of species live in the amazon?
1
@SuperDachshund "greening" yes, there is more artic moss, but that does not make up for rain forests yes, heards of elk can sustain themselves on moss and birch treed alone learn what transpiration is and how it affects rain
1
@SuperDachshund so you dont know what transpiration is of course you have no clue
1
@SuperDachshund Atmospheric CO2 enrichment generally reduces leaf stomatal conductances in most plants, which reduces the amount of water they transpire Conley et al. (2001) found that an extra 200 ppm of CO2 reduced cumulative crop evapotranspiration by 4% and 10% under water-stressed and well-watered conditions, respectively
1
@SuperDachshund co2 leads the the atmosphere being able to contain water vapor the issue is that its disrupting (which turbulence is synonyms to!) the stable climate that the amazon has created for itself
1
@SuperDachshund you know a word can have more than one meaning? turbulence can just mean disorder water that the amazon transpirates comes back as rain, you see, the water vapor is emitted by the trees, and the warmer temperature expels the water vapor out of the air and makes it rain, with more co2 that means the atmosphere has a higher water vapor capacity, this means that it will rain less regularly because the warmer temperatures restricting water vapor capacity is counteracted by co2 so sometimes it will be longer times between rain, and because of the increased capacity, sometimes it will rain a lot the rain forest is not adapted to such turbulence
1
@SuperDachshund whatever, im paraphrasing what actual weather scientists say, so even if i read their text wrong, i would trust the person with a damn degree and agreement with their piers changing co2 concentrations changes things, things in balance dont like change
1
@SuperDachshund molecular physics
1
@EdmundWilliams777 so you are claiming the medieval warm period was global? if i can debunk that would you lay your hands down?
1
what happens to cold air that contains a lot of water vapor when you warm it? if you dont know the answer then you have no right to pretend you even know what you are talking about
1
@bradkeen1973 "and mainly moving out of the little iceage" are you stupid? WHY are we moving out of the little ice age? newflash: manmade climate change you cant say "of the vase fell because... because the vase stopped being on the table and ended up on the floor" thats just repeating the same thing, thats not an explanation of cause, its the very thing you need to explain i would reply to the rest of your shit but the amount of incompetence needed to say "its getting warmer mainly because its it stopped getting colder and started warming" its an absolute fuckton
1
@bradkeen1973 the medieval and roman warm periods where not warmer than today they where caused by changes in the atlantic streams, it was entirely regional, global temperatures did not seem to change at all but tree stumps (in europe and east side of north america, not everywhere) and ice cores in greenland (not the antarctic) show that temperature was warmer the mistake is that many look at the graphs and dont notice the little words "Greenland ice core records" or "tree rings from europe" well some probably do, but they just automatically extrapolate the idea that it must have been exactly the same all over the earth the little ice age was natural, we would still be cooling if we where only calculating natural factors on the climate
1
thats only in ice records, news flash, ice melts as it warms, it comes back as it cools and captures the carbon, so no, its you are just reading data wrong remember, you are not immune to propaganda or misinformation
1
@SuperDachshund yes, life used to be fine under different circumstances... what happened though when the circumstances changed? ohh! mass extinctions, ok got you, so you want a mass extinction right now?
1
@SuperDachshund ah yes, the "greening" for demonstration, can you tell be what specific measurement is the factor for being "more" green"? i already know, i just want you to repeat it
1
the name never changed, you just think it did because you get all your information from the media, no scientific paper ever has used the term "global warming"
1
his work?
1
so does climate denial? i mean, technically more so climate denial how would politicians make money from tax if to do so they have to pay off hundreds of thousands of scientists, thats a really big investment im not even sure they would be able to make back the money for through tax
1
@iron60bitch62 "and delivering it to the feet of politicians" who said the taxes would go to the politicians?
1
@iron60bitch62 your grammatical structure becomes very incoherent near the end, ".0001%" of what? "policy going forward not in my lifetime" do you mean to put a dot or coma there?
1
nah, i have seen a ton of that low quality denier shit, although the youtube algorithm does try to not boost conspiracy shit
1
new technology makes it so we can recycle nuclear waste leaving us with an end product that stops being radioactive in a matter of a few hundred years instead of tens of thousands of years
1
@SuperDachshund i saw the tree ring thing, it was a few dozen tree rings that where examines all by the atlantic, thats not enough to disprove the hockey stick the atlantic has it own regional changes come back with something that shows GLOBAL change and has a bigger sample size that will be worth more
1
@SuperDachshund how do a few dozen measurements concerning temperature in a single region prove that mountains of cross referenced measurements concerning global temperature are wrong?
1
cant summon water out of thin air using magic spells but you think you can get water out of a metal tube in a thing called a "sink"?
1
@3gunslingers im for castrating wild cats...
1
its not though, the greenhouse effect is irrefutable
1
@SuperDachshund "We are RETURNING to normal" what defines normal for a species? is it the time conditions of the time it evolved, or is it the conditions of how the world USED to be? think about that
1
@SuperDachshund you are the one suggesting to bend the earth to your will by "restoring it" im trying to prevent changing it because life has for millions of years evolved to survive the exact conditions it lives under
1
@SuperDachshund "You’re trying to stop climate change of any kind" no, just the human contribution to climate change "we are already RETURNING to normal for the earth" the earth is a rock, i care more about the life on the rock
1
@SuperDachshund how is releasing as much coal as it took 50 million years to sequester into the atmosphere in just 300 years "helping the earth" and by earth i mean the life on earth what is the difference between environmental factors leading to evolution and environmental factors leading to mass extinctions? the rate of change "the earth getting progressively greener over the decades" to show you arent just reading headline, define how the research measures the "greening" when you do you will see the issue
1
good thing government funded research that does not agree with man made research still gets published, your argument is wack
1
@johnmagill1011 yea you do, but i dismantled it your argument relies on money being specifically targeted towards research that confirms climate change, its not, all research gets funded
1
@johnmagill1011 your argument honestly works against you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbW_1MtC2So fossil fuel companies specifically only funded research that would confirm that they had nothing to do with it, they would even hold back research that their scientists made that made them look bad, aka, suppressing the truth
