"my old stories from old men in the desert makes more sense than numbers and observations" of course it does, thats why it takes science and research to move from leeches to modern medicine sure at that time it would "make far more sense" to just use the leeches, its what everyone did and someone could make up some snake oil bull about how it worked and because its just a story it could be as simple as you want "it takes bad blood out" oh wow, ok, simple and makes sense but we know now that thats not the case and leeches are bad, the truth takes numbers and details, modern medicine is complicated but that does not make it any less true, i dont understand the chemical formulas in pills but the experts do and unless you can fool yourself that there is a conspiracy involving thousands of people then you would reasonably believe them
