"one of the core businesses of the Vikings was human trafficking" core? what source says that?
also they werent the only one doing that at the time, even the monks themselves in england who scoffed at the vikings for slavery sold irish slaves to the frisians
"the Vikings seldom were engaged in battles with enemy fleets" a ship can be good for navigation and traversing but not be a war vessel
"were glorified troop transports rather than ships" what is your definition of a ship? this makes me think that whenever someone says robot you assume they mean battle bots
" the Vikings never attempted to circumnavigate the globe in longships" should they have? they where business savvy not british adventures from the 18 hundreds
they would have to first sail past the strait of Gibraltar and then they would have no clue what to do, which map would they follow? they dont even know about south america or china or even how far south africa continues
what would they gain? nothing?
"Native-American were able to kick the Vikings out of North America in short order" hard to not be overpowered when its 1000/1 especially considering how long the supply line was, and they werent kicked out that fast, carbon dating shows that lanse aux meadows was active for at least around 100 years and then there was greenland, still part of north america
" anyone know why did the Vikings abandon their language, religion and culture in their military zones of occupation?" military zones? you mean places they conquered? ill tell you why, because it was the smart thing to do, consider this, you have to be Buddhist but you get to rule japan, you think someone is dumb for making their rule stable?
"FYI the Norman dynasty in England lasted less than 100 years" how long did caesars family rule rome?
"have had been major players in history for a long time now." rome has not been a major player for a long time, what is your point?

" is that it is a verb (to go a-viking)" yes but thats considering the old norse word "viking" the english word "viking" has a meaning closer to the old norse word "vikingr"
"they probably did not call themselves Vikings, since it's a verb" but they did call each other "vikingr" and typically not in a good way, it insinuated they where a brute of sorts so in the written sagas its more of an insult, that also strictly contrasts the "free-man" hypothesis
"they were very advanced in many fields, but people ignore it." which specific sources are you referring to? in history communities or people who i meet in denmark who are interested use the term to refer to all medieval scandinavians yet dont seem to have the impression they where all raiders, the more adept people i see use terms like norse, "old norse peoples" "north germanics" or just scandinavians in the viking age to describe them more accurately, but never have i met anyone who thought all of them raided
maybe this is a thing found abroad and in specific subcultures im not part of
i do sometimes find people who think vikings sucked but its less of a lack of focus on the impressive parts of north germanic society but that they just had a bias agianst vikings
"they were the same people" well depending on the meaning of the word, consider that in the heroic age in one story of swedish royalty there a in hiding swedish royal hires vikings to help get his kingdom back
it would be strange to differentiate that if they where just free men, but as described these vikings seemed more like pirates who where so full time
this use is different from the use of the word in the viking age
there are also claims that it was not only scandinavians who where vikings and i dont doubt that vikings would hire men to raid with them because thats just a smart business move to get more manpower but i dont put validity that baltic raiders could be labeled vikings, everyone had raiders but only norse ones where vikings or at least to my understanding of the word
"they were the same people" again, not all scandinavians where raiders, this claim of yours only works if the meaning of the word was "free-men" which is doubtful at best
